Helen was asked to spend a day with a group of managers in the Glasgow office of Careys, a construction company that has run as a family business for over 50 years. 
 
The session, focusing on strategic planning and change, was internally facilitated. Helen’s role as visual scribe was to capture the input from all seventeen participants, ensuring that everyone was heard and all contributions were noted. 
 
Over the course of the day, Helen was able to pull out common themes and work with the facilitator to share these with the group. The graphic itself created a real buzz, generating discussion and creative thinking, and it helped to diffuse tensions around the table, enabling the group to work productively together to move the company vision forward.
